Inauguration Essay
Thursday, January 29th, 2009 by James Gallows
On January 20, 2009 President -Elect Barack Obama did the oath to be president. One of the things he said was, “Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time . But know this America - they will be met.”

In my opinion, those are very powerful words because he is telling America that we will face many challenges and some may be harder than others. Also, he’s saying that we will meet them.
When Barack Obama started saying his speech I thought, “Wow, this will be the first day of change.” Also, I was a little excited because he was the first African American to be President. All the people that believed in segregation, they were proved wrong.

In conclusion, Barack Obama is the first black President. It doesn’t matter what skin color you are as long as you believe in yourself and you have a good heart.
